Week No 4: Wells Avenue No 2

The Reader's Digest version goes like this:
Well attended race included Brendan and Murat of the Millwork One Racing team. Someone sat up and deliberately let a gap open early on, 12 guys rode away unfettered never to be seen again.. until they lapped/re-joined us about 50 minutes later.. Sickening. Brendan and Murat spent untold laps at the front pulling/chasing/fighting to close said gap, along with other frustrated guys like Matt K., Kyle G., Eric M.. Final sprint included everyone and their brother with two watts left to rub together. Yours Truly is 8th in the field sprint.. meaning I wasted at least five of those who were in the break.. probably more. Brendan hot on my heels and looking as solid as ever after a tough day of racing Saturday at Charge Pond. In our new uniforms we looked pretty slick too. Power Meter numbers tell a promising story- my form today is very close towhat it was in July 2007, based upon today's CP20 and CP60 values. Yesterday's ride was 270 TSS- so the legs were pretty thrashed even before racing started today. Thanks for reading.

Thanks! We'll get 'em next time. Next person to gap me is going to get an earful tough! People are too damn lazy to attack and open a gap, so they have a team mate sit up and artificially create a break. Un-believable BS. I took a lot of heat last spring for being critical of such "tactics". Bring it on.. I don't give a squirt of piss what anyone says- it's a cheesy move devoid of class. It's NOT blocking.. blocking takes actual work to do properly.

i'm not sure where i stand on this "tactic". the way i look at it is if you are not paying attention, too bad. you have to be aware of it and deal with it. if you have no team, then you really can be in trouble. i don't like it, but heck, it racing. make the other guy burn his matches.

Fine and dandy. I don't have to like it though!
And to clarify to NG, I did not mean to call the people in the break "lazy" or "cheesy" or "devoid of class".. I did.. but did not mean to. Those in the break- I salute them for kicking everyone's ass. I was really venting upon the person who let the gap open up. Again- yeah it's bike racing- yeah if we miss such a move, it's no one's fault but our own.. and yeah.. if I were in the break I would have nothing negative to say about the situation.. I'm just a jealous and opinionated jerk, that's all.
Man alive.. sometimes I think I'd get more out of this blog if I made it a personal private journal instead of a public "lightning rod".. Oops.. did I think that, or say that?
