Chipotle is lip-smacking good

I go out of my way sometimes, to do business with companies which support cycling and bike racing. It's no challenge at all when it comes to Chipotle. If you have not tried one of their overstuffed burritos with the hot green chile sauce, you are missing out. If you've seen the Chipotle kits with the burrito 'in the jersey pocket'- it's misleading. Those burritos have a girth that is equal to their length. You would NOT EVER put one of these gut busters in any pocket. There's a Chipotle on Route 2 in Warwick, right across from Panera and the new Trader Joe's, which I haven't checked out yet.

Dude I think they're owned by McDonalds. And the food is so high cal they don't even publish the numbers of the meal after it's all put together. The do publish the ingredients though, and some guy has put together this calculator. Run your burritto through and find out how many thousands of calories you just scarfed down in your support of cycling. You want to live the rest of your life on the dark side of 170 lbs???

For a second there, I was grinning and saying only 381 calories! Suck-it, Nega-chump! until I realized I was looking at Calories from fat. Sigh.
My lunch was 1085 calories of spicy hot delicious-ness. I can think of much worse things to ingest for lunch, btw.

i forget where I saw it, but there was a choice,
which had more calories
16 lite beers or a big giant Chipolte looking burrito.

turns out 16 lite beers is more calories...

but 14 beers is less...

or something like that... maybe it was 11 and 14 beers... either way...

that's a heck of a lot of beer you could be drinking instead of eating that crap :D

ya really should hold off eating that kind of stuff until you are reliably sitting in the single digit fat %

Vaughters could feed his entire team for a week with just one burritto...

Ge you're being silly. It's a higher quality food than say, Quiznos or Subway, imho. The caloric content is no doubt high, but so is most everything else one can choose to buy for lunch. Besides, who the hell wants to drink 10 or more light beers? Is that supposed to be healthier? My limit is two lite beers before I risk getting a hangover.

If Gewilli didn't make it himself, it's crap! In fact, you probably need him to chew it up and regurgitate it for you too.

Lite beer is not beer.

Willi has to make everything from scratch. Except his beer. Then it's ok to drink Miller products. Like that's not supporting factory farming...

gewilli said...

nah - haven't had a miller product in a while (unless a ganset is a miller product)

high quality is relative...

chain restaurants are rarely synonymous with HIGH quality...

and beer is beer is beer, just like food. Some is better than others... but factory farming or not, at least it isn't made from corn ;)

Sadly, 'gansett IS now a Miller product. Not bottled in RI anymore.

Please refrain from judging Chipotle if you have never been there. The theme of the fixtures, the menu and everything in there, is minimalist. It would not surprise me to discover that the typical Chipotle restaurant has LEEDS points and uses FSC certified wood products in there. Bare cement floors, galvanized steel wainscot. Baltic birch plywood table tops. The food is prepared fresh from extremely simple ingredients. Even the menu is refreshingly simple- it's a flow chart of five signs- you pick one item from each sign and end up with a fistful of 1000 calorie bliss. and they serve beer.

But Willi prefers locally-owned go out of businesses to any entity that actually has a business plan and tries to supply food for more than six months. Something about sustainability...

Private industry is evil. Much better to work in academia where the product is just more people who think just like you.

'gansett is now RI owned. Investors bought it from Pabst a few years ago. Pabst bought it from Falstaff who owned a majority since 1965.

One of the Nantucket Nectar Juice Guys is the current owner. Brewed in NY though.

Yes yes please try one. Try the Barbacoa spicy shredded beef. Yummmm...
For the record, my dentist sponsors a bike race team, and so does (did) my insurance company, Metlife. and back when there was a 7Up team, that's all I ever drank.
Tim Hortons sponsors some riders. Does Dunkin Honuts?

Tim's sponsors the entire Canadian nation team, their nation championships, dozens of local rides and races.

Hundreds of club rides start at Tim's and it is the favorite food stop of almost every Canadian rider I have ever met (Brown was loaded with them).

I support TIm Hortons. I am a homere.
