Pectoral muscles do not propel you forward on a bike

I love saying that, if not for it's raw truthfulness, for it's tendency to make certain peoples' skin crawl. I can now do 50 consecutive push ups. The last five are tough- they take a second or two longer than all the others, but I do them.

Okay Mr. Kozy Shack, I'll try to eat less.
Nega Coach says I need to do a nominal amount of strength training. Doing push-ups 2-3 times a week will not make me into Mr Universe. My chest is flabby so I have to do something.
Hey I'm still at my 2008 peak form weight of 173, in mid December. How many can say that?

50 is rather impressive if you're not sacrificing form and quality. I still find going past 30 perfect pushups a challenge. Another goal is 100 in 5 minutes. How you choose to accomplish this is up to you. Try it and let me know how you do, but make sure you're going all the way to the ground. I still have not been able to do it.

They do, in fact, help get you up hills on a SS mtb, especially with Mary Bars. The sweep seems near perfect for utilizing your upper body when climbing.
