Some diagonally running RR tracks in the Boston area (Jerusalem Rd area?) got the best of me on Sunday and I went down like a sack of potatoes. Shredded my hip and knee.. Bruised and swollen. Broke my handlebars. I was in line to cross these tracks and I saw others ahead of me get their rear wheel caught and go sideways and somehow recover.. Watching others do these acrobatics right in front of me meant I squeezed a handful of brakes instead of focusing on a proper bunny hop. I am sore but luckily I suffered no serious damage. Eastion EC90 handlebars are snapped in two though.. I was able to complete the ride- my handlebar tape held the bars together..

So in your last post you had to lose 15 pounds and then in this one you snap a 160 gram pair of handlebars that cost triple what a 230 gram pair costs... There is a lesson in there some place.
I didn't choose these bars- they came with the bike. This was the 2nd time that the left hand side struck the ground hard- the last time was Bob Beal Crit 2007. I'm more worried about potential damage to the steerer tube.
Fortunately a team mate has an extra EC70 Aero for me to use!
Lesson? How about not breaking any bones? The Schlecks would not have faired as well being body slammed onto train tracks at 25 mph. and.. aluminum bars would not have made a difference to my injuries..
